Jessi and George – A Very Austin Wedding at Gallery Black Lagoon

George and Jessi are my kind of couple. They are informed, have great taste, fun-as-all-get-up, and pretty gosh darn adorable. They scripted their day to make sense for them, which, as a photographer, I adore. Their sweet ceremony clocked in at under 5 minutes, and having a first-look meant they got lots of mingle-time with their guests. This wedding was a blast of fresh Austin air, and Jessi and George’s love is as light and breezy as a cloudless sky. [Oh yes.. my favorite wedding moment EVER happened at this wedding. Keep in mind, Gallery Black Lagoon is in a residential street, surrounded by cute Hyde Park houses. So.. random wedding guest heads in from the streetside patio, and a CAT darts into the venue after him. This kitty guns it: fast as lightening, like some crazy pent-up wind-up toy. She's quickly scooped up by a heroic partier who takes the little darling outside where she belongs. Suddenly, a distressed young woman runs across the street yelling "ROXANNE!!". Her cat, Roxanne, is in heavily in heat, and made a break for it to find, well, "company." (You know what they say about wedding dance floors!) Someone of course yells to kitty "Roxanne! You don't have to put on the red light"... everyone's in stitches, and Roxanne looks very pleased with herself.]

Dog Portraits – Misha the Austinite Dog

So, my own eensy biological clock ticks so quietly I’ve actually yet to find it, pet-love is something that strikes in all kinds of ways. Tail-wags of dogs in purses, adopt-me kitties in cages on Congress Street, and, yep, like any hardworking, straight-talking, no-bullshit lady, I admit to watching videos of the “cutest dog on earth” (he’s called Boo Boo) on youtube. So. I was beyond delighted to receive a commission for a dog portrait session celebrating the life of Misha. Misha is an inspiring and loyal elder-dog whose days on this planet earth have been blessedly long. Enjoy!

Sima and Armin – Magnolia Ballroom, Houston wedding

Over the last few weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of documenting a Thai wedding, two Vietnamese weddings and a Persian wedding. Presenting Sima and Armin and their drop-dead gorgeous Persian wedding set at the lovely Magnolia Ballroom in Houston: There are so many things I could gush about regarding the Persian (Iranian) wedding culture: The feast of honey, nuts and nougat spread out for the couple during the ceremony; the bride’s custom of feigning coy reluctance when asked by the officiant to marry her groom, and the bridesmaids’ equally coy responses of “the bride has gone to pick flowers.” Sima is as delightfully fun as she is beautiful, and Armin was one of those grooms who really cares deeply: about his lovely lady, and about the importance of their wedding. For a beautiful day, I want to thank you two so sincerely!

Han and Drew – Marie Gabrielle wedding in Dallas Texas

Han and Drew met while creating a building: working on the same architectural project together. I love these two, they’re sophisticated but spunky, and totally adored by their friends and family. The reknowned restuarant Marie Gabrielle hosted the day, and their outdoor gardens proved a gorgeous spot for an outdoor ceremony. I love the dynamic between Drew’s two amazing kids and Han, who adores them like her own. This was a really touching part of the day; seeing the tenderness shared by the new family. To a talented, sparkling couple who truly shine in each other’s presence; all the best of the best!
